7 Steps to creating a powerful vision board.

You may be wondering what a vision board is & why is it so important?

My goal is to help you understand the importance of creating the perfect vision board so you can start helping your dreams become a reality!

If you have been following my blog you will know that I have been talking about the importance of dreaming, as well as understanding how you can attract those dreams to you. When you become aware of how powerful our minds are it WILL change your life forever!

The next key component to attracting our dreams is creating vision boards! 🙂

What is a vision board?

A vision board is a very powerful tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal.

Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display pictures, sayings, goals, dreams, that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life.

They are a concrete representation of your desires and aspirations for your dream life. By taking the time to figure out exactly what your dreams are, you are taking action towards receiving them. It helps keep you focused & motivated to achieve what you truly want in life.

Napoleon Hill, the famous author of one of the most popular personal development books of all time, “Think and Grow Rich”, said, “Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true.”

He was also the creator of my favorite saying, “Thoughts become things”. 🙂

Who should use vision boards?

Everyone SHOULD have a vision board because everyone SHOULD have a dream!

Oprah Winfrey, Jim Carey, Katy Perry, Kellan Lutz, Ellen DeGeneres, John Assaraf, Tony Robbins & so many others have said that much of their success in life was created by using vision boards!

The wealthiest & most known people of our time, have used some sort of vision board to create the lives that they have created. This shows you the power that can come by creating a vision board!

We watched some of the best NFL players get inducted into the Hall Of Fame last week. It was so inspirational to hear how their visions of becoming NFL players got started & the incredible stories of the obstacles that they had to overcome to achieve their goals.

One thing that stayed consistent throughout all of their speeches was their passion for the game, their dream of becoming an NFL player, & the visualization tools they used to help them achieve their dreams.

Taking the time to discover their dreams, physically share them by writing them down, creating vision boards, taping their names on a football jerseys, etc. helped them all to stay laser focused & motivated to become that star NFL player! No matter what obstacle that came their way.

My experience with vision boards.

I have been using vision boards in our family since 2009. At that time we were involved in a business that required a lot of personal growth & goal setting. Each time that my husband & I created a vision board we hit 95% of our production goals. We took time to get laser focused on what we wanted to create. We wrote it down, took pictures, created a vision board, & focused on it until we hit those goals. It was an incredible process to see unfold as it showed us how powerful visualization is.

Our children have also used them. They were 12, 9, & 5 when they created their first board. We would all gather our tools: scissors, magazines, markers, & glue than scatter throughout the house. A few hours later we would reconvene to share our boards with one another. It was some of the most enlightening moments we have shared as a family. I love those moments.

Out of those boards came, new promotions, a horse, motorcycles, redesigned house, new furniture & more! 🙂

You might be asking exactly how do you create such a powerful vision board? I will give you the 7 steps that we use each & every time to make your dreams become a reality!

7 Steps to creating a powerful vision board.

7 Steps to creating a powerful vision board.

1. Take your time!

Do NOT rush this! Creating a vision board is not something that you should throw together, you need to take time to really focus on things that you want in your life. Grab some Post-it notes & start writing down some ideas for your board.

Remember “thoughts are things” so take your time & choose wisely.

I gave the kids 5 days to really focus on what makes them happy, what their goals for the school year would be, what they love doing, & things they want to do or accomplish. They researched, read, & talked to us about some of those things. This was a great way to get connected with them on a different level. It really got them thinking about their dreams & what they COULD do in life, it was beautiful!

2. Be aware of what makes you happy.

What are your passions?  Do you have hobbies? Is there something that makes you laugh & feel totally alive on the inside?

How do you see your ‘perfect life’? When you think of that how do you feel?

These are important questions that you should ask yourself while creating your vision board. Be very aware of what you feel inside as you answer these questions. If you are excited & happy you know that you are choosing the right dreams for yourself. 🙂

3. Break down your vision board into categories.

This makes it much easier for you to cover all areas of your life. I break my vision boards into these 11 categories:

  1. Family

  2. Travel

  3. Financial

  4. Career

  5. Home

  6. Health

  7. Relationships

  8. Goals

  9. Sports (if applicable)

  10. School

  11. Things you want.

4. Take time each day to look at your board.

This is VERY IMPORTANT! Place your vision board somewhere that you can see it throughout the day. You must spend time really looking at each image or saying for it to really work. Spend at least 10-15 minutes a day looking at it & thinking about what it would be like if you had everything on that board.

When you plant a seed you must water it for it to grow…the same thing applies to your vision board. You MUST look at it & visualize all of your dreams coming true for them to grow & become a reality!

The most powerful time of each day is the last 45 minutes before you go to sleep. What you think about during that time will replay itself over & over throughout the night in your subconscious mind & will continue to be part of your thoughts when you awake in the morning.

It is VERY important that you spend that time visualizing what you want in your life because if you wake in the morning with those thoughts you will heighten your vibrational match for what you want in your future.

I look at mine as many times that I can during the day to help me stay focused & motivated to achieve my dreams. 🙂

5. Be Grateful.

I love this! If you have read any of my other posts you will know that I am big on gratitude! You can read more about gratitude here if you like! It is the one thing that I can wholeheartedly say changed my life, & it can yours too!

Be grateful each time that you look at your vision board. Think about each item on it & be grateful for it like you have already received it. This is so incredibly powerful! This goes back to that beautiful saying as “thoughts are things”, so if you are grateful for them, you are attracting them to you. It is powerful & true!

6. Have FUN!

This is so much fun! It is just like you are ordering your life from a catalog. Really get into it. You’ll find that the more you dive in to it, the more you’ll enjoy it, the more optimistic you will become, you’ll look at opportunities differently, & it helps you stay excited & focused on your future!

I recommend inviting friends over to create vision boards, family, children, the more the better! When everyone becomes focused on sharing their dreams it becomes a magical experience. It is life changing to watch each others dreams unfold before your eyes.

7. Watch your dreams unfold!

What a rewarding feeling this is when you start seeing some of your dreams unfolding right before your eyes!

This is a reward for being patient, being persistent, being grateful, taking action, & visualizing your dreams! As your dreams come true make sure to color them in on your board! It becomes exiting to watch them all be filled in!

We had a great time this week creating our vision boards. I will keep you all posted as our dreams start coming true around our house!

With school starting it is a great time to create goals for grades, sports, & relationships! Remind your children to look at their vision boards throughout the day, talk to them about it, & encourage them on their journey! If they can learn how powerful visualizing is now, they will so far ahead! in the future!

I challenge all of you to create a vision board this week with all of your goals & dreams on it! They are beneficial for so many reasons! You will love creating them, I promise!

If you share them with me on Facebook or Instagram I will post them on my blog next Wednesday! I would love to see them! I can’t wait!

The saying “A picture is worth a thousand words,” certainly holds true here.

Make sure to take the time to join in the fun & be the first to hear about what is new at The Giggling Life by Becoming An Insider! You will be happy that you did! 🙂

Can’t wait to see those boards! 🙂
